Where it all began for me

Although I came from family traditions, Italian and Lebanese, of made from scratch food, I have not always made the best choices and our ingredients could have been sourced cleaner

To be honest, I spent most of my life eating because I love food and not really paying attention to nutrients. I loved my "junk food", especially sweets. As a result of my food choices, my weight was like a roller coaster up and down. So the only time I paid attention to what I ate was when I was on a diet trying to lose weight. My choices eventually took their toll on my health, leading me to intuitively remove sugar and hydrogenated fats from my diet. Much to my surprise, I could not even find bread that did not have sugar in it and that very few shelved foods without hydrogenated and trans fats.

I had to gravitate to towards more fresh and home-made foods to meet my diet needs. In a very short amount of time, I had little tolerance for the abundance of sugar in food and a regular slice of bread tasted like a sweet to me.

This is where the journey began and over time I started naturally focusing on foods that provided me with nutrients and health and had a little tolerance for processed foods; they did not taste real to me and lacked flavor. I have since been able to maintain my weight and health and have never been on a diet again.
